    Question TW: Javascript: Starting a CGI-Script without leaving the actual HTML-Page

    Hi!

    i want to have a html-page with Javascript, from which a want to click on Buttons where the User can click onto. This clicking shall start an CGI-Binary on localhost with no output. The actual HTML-Page should stay in the Browser-Window. How should I do this?

    Thank You.

    With a very simple work-around:

    - create a frameset with 2 frames. Make one frame either very thin or set it to 0 pixel.

    - put the content you want to stay into the 1st frame

    - put a dummy file (empty file) into the second frame

    - in the first frame, when the user clicks the button, the script will load the site into the 2nd frame (the dummy). The scripting part here is only 4 lines:

    Code:
    function invokeScript(url)
    {
        parent.frames[1].location = url;
    }
