Accessing Active Directory logins through IIS windows authentication

I'm new to the technology thing, but I need to know how to do a couple things...if its even possible...
How do I grab the username from Active Directory to place in a text file if I authenticated the user for my web page using IIS Basic Authentication?
Just want to be able to log the user who accessed the site each time it is accessed

Possible yes, how to do it I'm unsure I don't use active directory but if you know the attribute (which should be something like "username") then you can just access it like any other attribute.

    the Attribute is called "samaccountname"

If you want to log the Users, the have been authenticated with the iis, you can try to enable the matching log-files.

    Maybe this article helps you:
