Live Indexing in openLDAP
It's very critical for my web application environment to have zero downtime on LDAP Server. I want to do indexing of openLDAP in order to improve the performance.
I would like to know if there is any way to perform indexing in openLDAP (using slapindex.. or other method) without stopping the LDAP server. If not, what can be alternatives to improve the speed of indexing process in openLDAP.

If your goal is zero downtime, then you should setup a multi-master Directory so you can point the traffic to a single Master Directory and when you need to perform work like; patching, indexing, etc. You can point your traffic to one server and then the other. Having replicas also allows you to recover data in the event of a server failure or DB file corruption on just one Master.
