About Space allocation

Hi all,
I was reading about space(block) allocation to a file.It says that the space will be allotted according to the contents(i.e if the content increases, a new block will be allotted). Is it possible to see the address of the blocks allotted to a file in LINUX? and please some one tell me how to check the size of a block.

Thanks in advance.
