Accessing files from external hard drive with different credentials.

Hi everyone. So my NAS box died on me, but it would appear the hard drives are in tact. I got a knoppix boot cd, and ran the command

    sudo mdadm --assemble --scan

and it mounts the drive, and I can see folders.

so now when I click on a folder I get permission errors. fair enough.

    so....
    1. Is there a way to sudo into the folders I want?
    or
    2. Can I change the permission on the folders?
    or
    3. Can I specifcy the user/pass to access the folder. I think I remember them. But if I make a few mistakes will it lock me out or anything like that?

    Thanks

If you can see the drive is mounted, you should be able to use sudo to access files/directories. Or what I do, su to the root user, then see what you can see on the drive.
