Build Your own linux + installer

Does anyone know of a way of adapting, say, RedHat or similar so that it installs only the packages necessary for a typical small workstation/laptop and a few specific packages + a couple of non-redhat packages? (I mean remove all the thought and possibilities out of the install!) Would this go against the license?

Or is what I want a home-build linux with installer? If so where do I get instructions on how to build the installer?

Any help appreciated!

Read the redhat documentation, it supports creating an installation image that you can use to create cloned workstations/servers with the same packages.

Mandrake does also, probably other distros too.
