Can't load LO

Hi. I installed RedHat 8.0 on my Sony VAIO laptop the other day and I haven't been able to get it to boot. Install went fine, blah blah, got to the point where I had to reboot... It loads everything else fine, then it gets to "Bringing up looppack interface:" and it just hangs there. Any way to fix this? I really don't feel like re-installing a different distro

BTW - System Specs:
PIII Mobility 1.13GHz
256MB PC133 RAM
40GB Hard Drive
10/100 NIC
56k Modem
Radeon Mobility M6

Any help would be appreciated.

Give it a little more time, it can take days for someone who knows how to correct your problem reads your thread.

Are you kidding? You only waited 15 minutes between your posts. . .

Anyway, I run RH 8.0 on a Sony VAIO PCG-SRX77C (which is also my staging server, all on a 2.75 pound laptop. . .) and it works pretty darn good. Not perfect (APM support is lacking, and the jogdial thingy doesn't work). Not to restate the obvious, but it sounds like you're having serious network problems.

Go to:

http://www.linux-laptop.net/

and read a bunch of the Sony install stories- they should get you pointed in the right direction, even if they aren't for your specific model.

I love my VAIO, but were I to do it again I'd probably go with some other manufacturer, probably the smallest Dell I could afford.

Hero Zzyzzx: I looked there and couldn't find anything about the LO problem. I have a PCG-GR370, nothing listed on that page (nor any others). I have succesfully installed and ran RH 7.3 on that laptop before, and wanted to upgrade. I was thinking about just trying 9.0 if I can't get 8.0 to work. Any one else have any other suggestions? ( I was thinking maybe some command I could run at the bootup prompt that would disable LO so I could get in and see what the problem was?)
