Can't play audio cd's that are 'Enhanced cd's'

I can't play audio cd's that are 'Enhanced' (i.e. that they also have some stuff like movie clips, screensavers etc. on it,for Windows/Mac only). When I insert such a cd in my drive,it starts spinning but the cd player won't run,and my desktop freezes.I can't open the cd with the Cd player, nor with XMMS (since /dev/cdrom only contains the movie clips and applications).
Is there a way that I can play these cd's?Or at least rip them to my hard disk?Because I have a bunch of them and it's a shame that I can't listen to them.
Thank you in advance.

Poor you, are you sure it's not one of those copy-protected cd too? Have you tried cdparanoia or anything else?

copy-protected cd
That's what first came to my mind too. How many have you tried and did you check to see if they're on Fat Chuck's list?

A lot of times CDs that are "Enhanced" are actually broken and don't play in Linux, or, don't play very well. "Enhanced CD" often equals "CD that steals your right to use content in whatever legal way you want".

I haven't tried cdparanoia,but I will try it soon.

I am sure that it isn't a copy-protected cd,since the cd is a copy itself Plus it is a very old album of Iron Maiden (not on that list).

I guess that those Enhanced CD's are made really only for Mac/Windows and wont work in any other OS.

For lots of useful information on these "CDs", see the UK Campaign for Digital Rights' pages about them:

http://www.ukcdr.org/issues/cd/

But if it is a perfectly normal disc, then are you sure it's not a problem with your set-up? Can you access other CDs perfectly well? It'd be odd if you couldn't just mount it and play the videos, if it were a normal CD...

Those are hybrid CDs, I doubt there's no way to acces either one of them under Linux.

Check this out, might help (thanks Google!):
