    Centos git rpm in cpanel

I am looking at the various options of CENTOS 6.2 x86_64 standard managed with cpanel. I want to install git for version control.

I went to the rpm options and I see the following rpms:
    git-all
    git-cvs
    git-daemon
    git-email
    git-gui
    git-svn
    gitk
    gitweb
and I am wondering which is the correct rpm.

    Hi Evan,

The packages you want seem to be git or git-core, but git-all would include them as well. This will install other packages such as git-cvs, etc which are bridge packages to help migrate between cvs with git.

I'm a Debian guy, but I just did some research for you, and that should do it!

From a command line you can use yum info git-<whatever> and get a brief synopsis of what the package does.

And I'd recommend installing git via yum, not by downloading the rpm as a stand-alone. Yum will install any needed dependencies for you.
