    CISCO IOS emu for x86

I know this is a goofy question and i think i already know the answer but does anyone know if there has been any time of CISCO IOS emulator/port/x86 that will run as an operating system on and x86 computer??? Like one that adpats to hardware like nics and different chipsets. This sounds like an interesting project to do with linux and im sure someone could do it. I am trying to get my ccna right now and like to mess with linux boxes so i just thought it would be nice to make at least some type of interface over linux that looked and felt just like cisco's IOS...

    THanks,
    JDS

There used to be a IOS like shell for linux 2.2 whcih was pretty cool. Thay project faded away however. I don't know of any active projects bringing an IOS interface to the PC. However, if you need an IOS simulator to do your CCxx labs, boson netsim is such a package for MS Windows.
