connecting to Windows xp pro

Problem solved:
rmmod ipchains was the magic word.
(I still don't understand anything)

I wanted to connect my linux box and window so that they can share files.
I was hoping it was a simple matter of plug and play.
(a newbie's dream )
So far I have assigned ip to both boxes.
And tried to ftp linux from windows and failed.

Here is weird part.
I could ping linux from window but not the other way.

Any help would be appreciated.

The result of ipconfig:
