Contents of a drive with NTFS

Howdy, i've been trying to figure this out, but have basically given up...

A while ago, a friend and I were screwing around with Mandrake. I have 2 hard drives. One is for my OS's, and the other is for files, and backup. The second drive is in NTFS format, and the main drive, which i was using mandrake 8.2 at the time, has journalized xfs i believe.

Now, to the problem/question.

Is it possible, to view the other drive which is in NTFS format? I have tried, but it seems impossible... It doesn't show up as being a drive. I have tried adding it through harware managers, etc... and it just doesn't seem to be recognized through the system.

Also, is there any way to browse through network machines if they are running windows? Say we are all plugged into a hub, and everyone has windows except for me... can i view what they have shared? can i even find them on the network?

Thanks alot

-ian

of course you can. but you only can readonly.

do you have install with source? in /usr/linux or under, you can find on directory as fs
you should see there is only ntfs.c but ntfs.o
your mission is to make ntfs.o by recomplier,
you can cp the .configur to one directory , edit it, comment all of the line but ntfs left, and make the kernerl again.

i think you will find ntfs.o in the left, copy it to fs, insmod ntfs.o,
then mount , work!

good luck
frederick
