copied drive w/ norton ghost now linux grub doesn't work

ok, so i copied a linux drive w/ norton ghost, i did the 'boot image copy' supposedly copies everything. but grub doesn't load.

i have a rescue disk to get into linux and i tried reinstalling it on hda1, it said it worked but nothing changed. i did hda1 because i thought i installed it on the first partition last time...but i can't remember how can i check?

i still have the old drive i cloned from, so i can use that if i need to.

install grub on hd0 (hda)
