    Question Creating a root password...

    Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to create a root password, I forget how you do this, when you type in su, you know what I mean.

    Thanks

What do you mean by creating one?

You should have one, because you have do make a root password when you installed the system.

If you type su you try to get superuser rights (that's root).
So if you type su you have to fill in your root password, which you should have, so the system knows you have the right to be superuser, you shouldn't create one.

    Not necessarily.

There are several ways to gain root (isn't that a goal with cracking?), but once you are root, just run the command passwd

If you have questions, run the command man passwd
Two things have come out of Berkeley, Unix and LSD.
It is uncertain which caused the other.
