Disable keyboard from commandline?
My 3 year old has a computer that she can play movies on with mplayer. The problem is that she keeps hitting keys on the keyboard and altering the play speed, muting the sound, and changing other playback parameters which either gets really annoying to us or really upsetting to her. How can I ssh into her computer and disable her keyboard while the movie is playing and then reenable it when I need to? Is there a kernel module I can load and unload? A device I can change the permissions on?

Try unplugging the keyboard perhaps?

thinks hard about this problem. almost certainly this is possible, although unplugging it is the simplest solution. there is a video mode in smplayer that I don't know how to get out of without killing X (most likely an ignorance thing). but you might try configuring xorg to use evdev and then removing evdev from the kernel. you might also look for kiosk documentation. I'm certain there are other ways. might ask on gentoo forums too... but unplugging it is really the easiest way.

Thanks, but she is too smart for that. She can and would plug it back in. I have tried using mPlayer in slave mode, but it kills the sound on her computer. |

Hai
I am Arul kumar. Here i have commandline given below to disable keyboard and mouse in windows. Disable mouse and/or keyboard (Windows 9*/ME): RUNDLL KEYBOARD,DISABLE RUNDLL MOUSE,DISABLE There is an ENABLE function too, but I haven't found the right syntax yet. Without any further parameters it only halts the system without warning (Windows 95). You will probably need the other RUNDLL commands to do a "clean" reboot. But i dont have for Linux... I am very eager to know about. Bye.. |
