Take a look around... there are better (and simpler to configure) solutions than sendmail...
Like:

yep!!!!
completely agree with deepspring... qmail is way better than Sendmail... much cleaner config... a must try before using sendmail....

What about a IPlanet mail server. Yes, is not free, but if You need functionality near to Exchange server?
