It's not acceptable if you would like to actually like to get those answers. No one owes you anything here, and folks don't respond well to demands. You're not entitled to anything, and a little courtesy goes a long way.

Sure, I'm not reprimanding you, just trying to give you some pointers that help everyone out. To answer your questions:
1) This is a religious issue (what distro is better than another) with some folks. I like redhat a lot, myself. I haven't used SuSE, so I can't comment on it. 2) Google is your friend. 3) Figure out who made it, and then go to their site. I know that Intel and NetGear both provide linux drivers that have worked everywhere I've tried them. If you have a rather standard NIC, you probably don't need them because support should be in your kernel. 4) No comment, though I will say this- the strangest folks that I've met are those that don't know they are strange. . .I can remember one guy I lived with who thought it was completely normal to get up at 3 in the morning and saute onions because "he was hungry." And he had an stone egg that he insisted had a personality, and was UNSHAKEABLE when it came to his stupid egg, he'd treated it with total seriousness always. Anyway, good luck! This probably won't be your last install, trust me. |

Should you want to give a higher chance of your message to be read by people who really can provide quality answers you need to post a descriptive subject title because:
1) Due to the massive of threads, most helpers don't have that much time to read every single thread. Instead, they determine based on the subject title, the same way to determine what's junk mail and whatnot for newly arrived emails. 2) If you want more people to read your message, posting a descriptive subject would do your own good as well as saving everyone's time for not reading something (in which we have no way of knowing the content beforehand) that we are not interested on the discussed topics. Now let me ask you, what if you receive an email to your mail account without a sender name or with one that you don't recognize, and the subject title is shown exactly like yours "gimme the answers", what would you do? What do you think most people would do? a) delete it or send it to junk folder without reading it b) read it because I don't want to rule out the possibility that this email is from a legitimate sender Do you like to be spammed? I don't!! Not posting a descriptive subject here is equivalent to spamming people. |
