How to pick which make to use?

I am trying to install Freetype and getting an error. It might be due to I am using an older copy of make when I type make?

I have three versions of make installed: /opt/SUNWspro, /usr/ccs/bin/make,
/usr/share/lib/make.

How do I choose which make to use? Since right now all I do is type make then make install.

Thanks!

you choose by prepending the path. just as you typed it.

from your local path layout i guess you are not using linux or you have a non-standard compliant distro. which os do you use?

if you want to know which "make" is started if you only type "make", type "which make"
