hi all, i want to know how can i type ascii characters, for example in windows i do this by typing ALT + xxx where "xxx" is the ascii code of the character. so i want to know how can i do this in linux, any help would be apreciated...

In M$ Windows, this is controlled by the Character Map (charmap.exe), so I am not sure if this is possible under *nix — unless there is an equivalent.......
