I have a fresh Ubuntu Natty I want to do ROR development on. Can you help?

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu Natty. It is my first time using Ubuntu, Linux, MySql, Apache, Ruby On Rails....

Command line stuff in general.

Everything I've tried has just made me want to pound my head into a wall and frankly feel very inadequate. The Ruby On Rails code is beautiful and makes sense to me from doing the Zombie tutorials and reading some codes.... the problem is I can't even get passed all of the setup to get there.

I can completely reinstall Ubuntu if need be right now to get rid of anything I've already tried. I just want a step by step guide on EVERYTHING I'll need to start out. For example right after doing the install of Apache it says to configure it. I don't know how to configure it, I don't even know if I have an application for configuring - I tried getting Redcar but again it came back with a bunch of errors when I tried.

This is very very frustrating.
