Installing openssl without removing other apache mods

Hi

I have redhat linux 9 on my server. It is configured with cpanel and whm from hosting company side. However, i didnt use easyapache to install two modules, mod_geoip and browserInfo(PHP) to track location by IP and extra browser info of the user. I installed them manually and they are working fine.

Now I have to add openssl to the server and there is one problem. I dont know how to add it manually as i added other two mods. I googled a lot but couldnt locate a single HOWTO for it. only found ./configure, make and make install everywhere. Not sure if that is all.

I dont want to use easyapache to add openssl since it will remove my other two mods and my some live applications will go down.

Does anybody have any step by step tutorial for adding openssl manually without disturbing many things?

Also here is few commands output to show you my server current status

# rpm -qa | grep openssl
openssl-devel-0.9.7a-20.6.legacy
openssl096b-0.9.6b-15.3.legacy
openssl-0.9.7a-20.6.legacy
openssl-perl-0.9.7a-20.6.legacy
openssl096-0.9.6-25.12.legacy

I am not sure if it is already installed because

php -m

does display openssl in the list of modules

here is one more thing

under /us/share/ there is a directory called ssl which has following

[/usr/share/ssl]# ls
./ ../ CA/ cert.pem@ certs/ lib/ misc/ openssl.cnf private/

I am not sure if openssl is installed already or what.

please help me with this.

thank you very much
