Internal modem configuring and Red Hat 7.0
Dear Everyone,
I have just recently finished installing Red Hat 7.0 on my computer and am now at the stage of configuring my internet connection. I have successfully entered all of my account details however there are problems with my internal modem. In an attempt to diagnose these problems I have run the dip dialup program from the shell prompt whilst logged in as the root user. Here are the commands that I typed: dip -t DIP>port ttyS3 (I have identified that my internal modem is connected to Com port 3) These are the results that I was returned: DIP:attempt to use already locked tty /var/lock/LCK...ttyS3 DIP:can't open - problems with locking ttyS3 If anybody has information on how I can remedy this "locking" problem they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Regards David |

MAYBE: rm -f /var/lock/LCK.ttyS3
maybe this is a misleading error message saying that the device cannot be accessed at all ![]()
