I am wondering if anyone could help me here seemed to have run into a brick wall, Anyway I am using 2 Xp machines running through a cable modem, I have now added a Linux machine to my network, I can ping all machines on the network, and can also resolve machine names, Unfortunatley I have redhat 9 loaded on a laptop which can only hold 1 network card, My main XP machine uses DHCP and my other XP uses a static IP so does my linux machine, I can gain telnet and FTP access to my Linux machine but can't access the web at all,
Any help would be greatly appreciated IP Address = 192.168.0.12 Netmask = 255.255.255.0 gateway=192.168.0.6 |

Is the internal IP address of the machine with the cable modem in 192.168.0.6?

Internet Access redhat 9
Yes, I have 2 network cards in my main XP machine, one is connected to cable modem the other is used for Internet access, in which that is set as the gateway this being 192.168.0.6, my other XP machine can access the internet without any problems, I was wondering if there was a config file within redhat itself I have overlooked, at present I have no firewall on my Linux box just my main machine, I can talk happily to all machines on the network with my Linux machine just can't access the Internet, any ideas

Internet Access Redhat9
This was resolved by adding the gateway to the resolv.conf file
in /etc/ by adding the following: nameserver = IP of gateway I can now access the Internet |
