ISO file types ?

I'm in the process of downloading RH 8.0 and so far I've downloaded one of the 3 iso files. When I run the file command on it to see what type it is, it tells me that it is ascii?!
Is this right? I thought it was supposed to be binary....
I would hate to continue downloading these files just to have to do it again because of some file type error.

Are you sure you've been downloading that file in binary mode instead of ASCII mode?

Try to mount the file. The command is:
Code:
mount -t iso9660 -o loop isofile.iso /some/directory

If the mount fails, you can be reasonably sure that it is borken.

Thumbs up

They work!!!!
I managed to find a mirror that was pretty fast so I downloaded the rest of the iso files. The installation went smooth, there is actually a media test at the very begining of the installation which tests all the CDs for errors, all three check out fine. Back to play....
