Keeping ADSL connection alive

Every now and then my ADSL connection seems to drop. This seems to be a normal event but I would like to bring it back up again automatically. I have managed to set up my machine so I can run the following command and the internet connection will be restored:

service internet restart

The problem is how to do this automatically without having to be in front of the machine...

Thanks
Pete
