I always thought LAMP was an acronym meaning Linux/ Apache/ MySQL/ P(ython|erl|HP) and not an app or anything ... but if you mean something different, ignore my post entirely.
No, recompiling kernels should basically never ever mean that you have to reinstall any apps. All of the apps on my machine should work on 2.0 kernels even, and 2.6 will be here soon.
