Linux and Gnome rock!

I'm a new Gnome desktop user, i've been using linux servers for some time, but finally switched my desktop over to gnome2 on linux from WindowsXP....what a rush!!

I tell yah, it actually makes me enjoy my work, I feel like I'm helping a greater cause by using open source!

The few things that have kept me from converting earlier were:
Homesite for windows
Photoshop for windows
Quicken for windows

(i still have that 1 lame partition for Quicken).

But Gimp looks promising as a replacement for Photoshop, and Bluefish is on the rise as an alternative to Homesite!

XMLSpy was another one...i'm looking at MLView for gnome instead....not AS great, but should suffice.

At the moment I am staying with XP for my work desktop. I use the Macromedia Suite of programs and will need to ensure their correct operation under Gnome and Wine before i move anything. It also doesnt help that I am still supporting an Access database.

I've found bluefish is good substitute for homesite, and there's another one similar to dreamweaver.

as for Access database connection, not sure.
I've never tried anything with WINE (Is it XP capable yet? Last I read it supported Win95 apps).

Well Dreamweaver is Win98/95 compatible, the Access db's are getting converted to MySQL & PHP, eta for this is 6 months. Might think about changing then... but not before.

Though it is KDE-based, Quanta+ is probably the best web-development application out there. It's now very mature, with a lot of nice php features amongst other things.
