Linux on a Laptop(also known as NoteBook)?

Hello, I was wondering if it would be safe to install RH 8.0 on a Laptop computer, Since it is all differently build hardware, I'm not sure if RH 8.0 would be compatible with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, LavaCube.

RH 6/7 and Mandrake 6/7/8/9 all work just fine on my Toshiba. The latest revisions found all my hardware and setup X just fine. The earlier versions needed some tweaking of the PCMCIA stuff but worked.

Your chances of success are better if the laptop is a 3-6 months old or older model so the driver authors can catch up if your is using some spanking new hardware.

All you're out is time if it fails...

Also check out linuxhardware.org to see if someone else has submitted any notes on your particular brand/model.
