    loading stuff on linux boot

when i boot, my soundcard (sb live) driver isnt loaded.
i can load it from the terminal:
    insmod emu10k1
and it works fine, but how do i get it to automatically do that on startup?
also, i'm using smbmount to mount a shared drive over a network. how can i get this drive to be available on boot?
ie can i put it in fstab?

    Thanks, Daniel.

    Have you looked into initab?
Is it just me or is it cold in here?

For you audio card problem, look at conf.modules or modules.conf (depending on which distro you have).

The reason the soundcard wasnt being automatically loaded was because my bios was set with 'pnp os' enabled!
which i was informed of, by a program called sndconfig!

As for samba mounts - i can do them through fstab! using a smbfs filesystem!

It's the best thing when someone who posted a topic answers the topic for himself.
    Have a lot of fun...

    yep!
i spent ages trying to get it to work, and gave up because it was rather late! spent a while the next day playing with it and got it workin!

One thing i still dont know is, how do i run an arbitary command(s) on bootup, or login of a standard user, under the permissions of root - ie without root user being there for password.
