Need help with updateing arklinux 1.0

I updated arklinux useing grub.
"apt-get update " then I did "apt-get dist-upgrade"


Well it seemed to have worked fine.

but when it boots into x I guess
I don't get the splash screen that tells whats happening.

Hard drive light stops blinking.

My mouse is there and working.

but just have a light blue screen.

No ark desk top.

If I hit ctrl and f1 key a applet comes up with desk top number.

Any ideas would be great. Im new to ark but will try anything.

I don't want to reinstall.
