I am using Redhat 7.2 and 8.0. I am just wondering does Linux automatically clean /tmp? If so, how often does it do it?
Thank you |

If you're asking whether or not you should put anything into it.. I wouldn't.
Generally speaking, you can count on /tmp to get wiped at least each time you reboot. More likely, it will get wiped every couple of days, or, maybe hours. If you're going to drop something in there for a few minutes while you work, that should be ok, but don't count on it to stay there for any length of time. You may want to look at /var/tmp depending on how long you need to keep your data. |
