OpenSSL RPM Install - Dependancy Failure for Non-Existent File?
I've been trying to update my OpenSSL package to 0.9.6, on RH 7.0, kernel 2.4.18, but it's not going so well.
When I try to install the RPMs I get a long list of packages that say: libcrypto.so.0 is needed by such and such a package There's a total of 20 different apps that I get this dependancy error for. However, when I try to install other packages, I get dependancy failures saying that the package requires libcrypto.so.2 which is in the OpenSSL package the I'm trying to install... umm.. yeah. All I want is this MIDI support and to fix the overrun problem.. what on earth do I need to do to resolve that libcrypto.so.0 problem? Last edited by Ctb : October 1st, 2002 at 07:49 PM. |

OK, here's the new background:
Found out that the RPM from redhat may be mispacked and libcrypto.so.1 is in the RPM, not libcrypto.so.2 like RPM reports. Oops. So, if I force install this, can I symlink libcrypto.so.1 and libcrypto.so.0 to the libcrypto.so.2 file and expect it to work? I don't really want to break a bunch of things doing this.... but I'd really like to get openSSL updated ASAP. |

Try installing openssl-0.9.6g from source.

Whoops, sorry, I need to apologize here. I did find that suggestion elsewhere on the web with google but forgot to try it before jumping right to the next troubleshooting step
--my bad! |
