    Talking Performance Issues

    Hi People

I've been having a few problems with my linux installation, i currently have a 2ghz Xeon server with redhat 9 installed and even though there's no processor load or memory usage that could justify how slow the server runs it still runs slower than my 1ghz athlon.

Any help would be much appreciated.

try running 'top' in a terminal to see what's eating up your resources.. it might be a memory issue. is your machine swapping? is the HDD light flashing?

you could also try to do some tweaking with hdparm. should help for disk I/O operations.
