Problem updating rpms

Hi,

I'm trying to update sendmail using rpm, only when I do

> rpm -Uvh sendmail...

nothing happens

Also, how do i validate downloads using the MD5 Sum?

What do you mean "nothing happens"? It hangs, no hash marks print out, what? Did you do rpm -q sendmail to see what package version it thinks is currently installed?

Use md5sum to validate files.

There's a delay of maybe 1 second and then the command prompt is returned - no hash mark print out, no package list.

rpm -q sendmail returns sendmail-8.11.6-15.

And what version are you updating to (sorry, I don't use sendmail so don't offhand know what version number they're at)?

Did you try removing the old RPM and installing the new one?
