Problems installing RedHat 9 (Bluecurve) with Win2K

Hi all!
I've tried to install RedHat 9 on my PC but I found some problems...
I've got two HDs: the first 80Gb contains Win2K and is the primary, the other one 6.5Gb was the area where I wanted to install Linux.
I've followed all the steps proposed by the installer so that now Linux runs and it's fantastic!!

The problems:
Win2K doesn't boot anymore!!
At the boot I receive the error message: GRUB Hard Disk Error so that I've to boot Linux from a floppy disk.

I've tried to boot with an old DOS version but I can't find drive C: (the 80 Gb one) neither with MS FDISK.

Does anybody know how to step back or eventually recover the data?

Thanks in advance, Dave

Send a message via AIM to Jeb.
Put in your Win2k CD, and do a Recovery Console on your Win2k installation (choose to repair an existing installation). Rewrite the MBR (Master Boot Record) of the main HDD. I can't remember what the command is...FIXMBR maybe. Or is it FIXBOOT....eh, you'll find it.

The only catch here is you won't be able to boot Linux from a menu anymore. You'll need to use a boot disk. Someone more advanced in GRUB/LILO will know how to fix this. I've only just started

I'm fairly sure the Recovery Console exists in 2k...

As a side note: Take the time to hunt around and make yourself a DOS boot disk with FAT32 support. I created one last night with FAT32 support and NTFS read support. Absolutely invaluable.

I suggest you boot "the other way around":
Install grub/lilo to the linux partitionīs boot sector (on the second disc, not the mbr of the first where it was before). then edit your c:\boot.ini to offer the linux partition in your windows boot menu.
