Remote Connection Setup
Well i just set up red hat 8.0 as some may know from a previous thread.
I wanted to setup so i can SSH or even Telnet into my computer. I am going to indian in Jan and i would like to be able to acces my computer from there. I also need to know what port the remote connection would connect to so i can forward that port I have a linksys router. |

Just make it forward whatever port SSH uses to your computer.

And that would be port 22 (by default)

SSH Listens on Port 22 and Telnet listens on port 23. First you must make sure that your SSHD Daemon and Telnetd daemon are working properly.

If you are planning on accessing your computer over the internet then I strongly suggest you scrap any thought of using telnet and just go with ssh.
