Removing Previous version of LDAP

Please bear with me as I am new to ldap and RedHat Linux (9.0).

After installing the latest openldap (2.2.13) on my system, I try to run the ldap (via /usr/local/openldap/libexec/slapd) without success (i.e. the spladd daemon is not spawned). Then I realize that there was an older version of the ldap installed on the system. So when I use the System Service to start it, it works but using the old version.

Now, how do I remove the old one from the system, so that in the future it will start up automatically after reboot using the new version?

I'll appreciate if anyone know the proper way to do it.

TIA/
