samba or permissions
Hi,
I am running Debian Linux and have been fooling around with samba. I currently have two shares----home directory and root directory I can go into both of them in my windows box without any problem. I can save files in my home directory from either share. Now this is where the problems begin. When I go to save files anywhere else in the root directory I get errors stating that I can't save the file. These are my two shares: [homes] comment = Home Directory browseable = no writeable = yes read only = no [root] comment = Root Directory valid users = root oach browseable = yes writeable = yes path = / read only = no I believe these are correct!???? So my question. Is this a samba or a user permissions problem? With either one, how do I go about fixing it? Thank you, oach Linux newbie |

everything looks right above..
since you are dealing with the root directory here it must likely is a permission problem... make sure to read man chmod here is a tutorial: http://catcode.com/teachmod/ there are tons out there just do a search on www.google.com by the way, why share the root dir? ciao /r0d |
