Sendmail. How do I make it work?
Sendmail is running on my Redhat Linux 7.1.
I can send/receive mail from the console and from a terminal using pine, but cannot send or receive mail via mail client like Outlook Express. How should I configure the server so that it accepts SMTP and POP3 connections from mail client running on a separate machine? Thank you for your help! |

sendmail is not responsible for pop3, but for remote smtp features, read this: http://kb.redhat.com/view.php?eid=314
pop3 should be activated in /etc/inetd.conf and maybe additionally in /etc/hosts.allow and/or PAM.

no idea. i never used xinetd. try the manual or the redhat support database (link above)
/etc/hosts.allow is probably not needed. you should only try this if editing your xinetd.conf and restarting xinetd does not help. |
