Setting access control list-operation not supported

    Welcome everybody

I've properly installed access control list on my ubuntu
    Linux tomek-HP-ProBook-4530s 2.6.38-13-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 8 16:48:07 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    I have a problem with a command:
    $ sudo setfacl -Rm u:tomek:rwx file1
    The output is
    setfacl: folder1: Operation not supported
    setfacl: folder1/file1: Operation not supported
    Why it doesn't work?

I don't use Ubuntu, but on fedora it seems to me I had to add a tag in fstab to enable acl's on the filesystem.

How to put it into effect? Sorry but I am a very beginner linux user

    tomek@tomek-HP-ProBook-4530s:/etc$ cat fstab
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information.
    #
    # Use 'blkid -o value -s UUID' to print the universally unique identifier
    # for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name
    # devices that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
    #
    # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    proc /proc proc nodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0
    /dev/sda1 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1
    /dev/sda5 none swap sw 0 0

I don't mess with ACLs, but a quick google suggests it should not be too hard to do.
