Sharing my printer
I have a HP PSC 2110 printer and it's connected to my Gentoo computer, on which I use CUPS for printing, and this works fine. But now I would to be able to use the printer on my Mac OS X ibook too. The Gentoo and the Mac OS X computers are both connected to the router/modem. How can I do this?

You can share a printer using Samba the same way you share folders. www.samba.org

Yes, I know that, but can Mac OS X use that printer (and what do I configure on the Mac OS X box then?)?

I tried Samba, but it didnt work. I have this in my smb.conf file and I started /etc/init.d/samba start:
[global] printing = cups load printers = yes security = share netbios name = MYSERVER server string = "Is It Not Nifty?" [printers] path = /usr/spool/public printable = yes public = yes writable = no guest ok = yes browseable = yes But on the Mac I cant select the printer. |
