starting with Linux

I installed redhat 7.3, and realized i don't know how to use it =)
I don't even know how to shut down my computer.

Is there a tutorial for total Linux newbie? From the basics to whatever?

Thanks =)

just a suggestion:

your OS has what's called command-line completion, so if you have a program and you know it starts with a "g" but you can't remember the rest, type "g" and the the "tab" key. linux will display all of the possible matches for commands that start with "g". try this with different letters, and if you see a command that looks interesting, type "man command" where command is whatever program interests you. if the program has a "man" page, it will be displayed, and you can read about the program. you can also try "info program". this is a good way to start exploring your operating system. obviously a lot of it will be over your head at first.

also, as root type "shutdown -h now" to shutdown your computer or "shutdown -r now" to reboot.

you could also simply type "reboot" to reboot.

When you start Red Hat and log in,make sure that you select KDE or GNOME from the dropdown list.Then you can simply press alt+ctrl+del (like in a windows) and it will ask you what to do; shutdown,reboot or log out.
