Is there a way that I can correct this error, I have a 2 button mouse P/S2 and I am not really sure why its throwing this error....

    Thanks, WWJD?

    see this?
(EE) xf86OpenSerial: Cannot open device /dev/input/mice

You must assign (configure) your X a proper mouse. Usualy it is /dev/psaux or /dev/mouse which is usualy a link to /dev/psaux
    '/dev/psaux' stands for ps2

On Red Hat's versions in console it can be configuread via setup text tool

to test it, you may start /etc/init.d/gpm. Then you should be able to run your mouse like crazy all over your text screen. This gives a great possibility that your X will hold on the screen. Mouse is vital for X. With wrong mouse config it just refuses to run.

    Hi,

I setup it up to use /dev/psaux, and I am still got that error. I am going to try changing more settings but do you have any more ideas ?

    Thanks, WWJD?

Another try is to locate your XF86config-4 (or whatever is the exact name) file and check if /dev/mouse or /dev/psaux is there listed and uncommented. If not, fix it.
Also, can you post a few last lines from your log as you did before?
There you may still see whether or not it is using (it knows) your mouse.

My section looks like this (see the InputDevice for mouse:

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Keyboard0"
    Driver "keyboard"
    Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse0"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "off"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection

Test it and let me know.

Check your /dev for /dev/mouse /dev/mice /dev/input/mouse /dev/usbmouse or anything that might relate to a mouse, then set it to that.

To test it, move your mouse around while you do
    cat /dev/whatever
It will give you some garbage if the device works for your mouse since you are moving it, nothing if you aren't.
