Do you have SSH installed? The command
    Code:
    rpm -qa | grep ssh
will return a list of ssh packages that are installed, or nothing if none are installed.

Secondly, do you have the SSH daemon running? The command
    Code:
ps aux | grep sshd | grep -v grep
will show /usr/sbin/sshd if the SSH daemon is running.

additionally, you can check if sshd is running with:

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd status

you can use this "rc" script to start and stop sshd too (use "start" or "stop" instead of status)

lastly, there is always the firewall question. for a fast check on the firewall, try:

    iptables -L | grep ssh

you should see something that uses the words "ACCEPT" and "anywhere". i never use the stock firewalls that come with redhat but the stronger settings may squelch ssh connections.
