    Ubuntu Feisty to Precise

    Hi,

I am trying to upgrade Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04) to Precise Pangolin (12.04). Have downloaded the 12.04 iso file and ran :-

    Code:
    sudo mkdir -p /media/cdrom0
    sudo mount -o loop ~/Desktop/ubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom0
but this doesn't produce any dialog and alt+F2 window doesn't work also.

The Update Manager says "New distribution release '7.10' is available but clicking the Upgrade button gives "Could not download the release notes"

    any help is appreciated.

Feisty reached end-of-life in 2008 (and 7.10 did so in 2009). I'd be very surprised if you manage to upgrade through the 9 releases between then and 12.04.

I suspect you'll need to do a fresh install of the newer version.

    Hi Ishnid,

I have tried to mount the iso file for a fresh install but didn't work

    Code:
    sudo mkdir -p /media/cdrom0
    sudo mount -o loop ~/Desktop/ubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom0
install from CD doesn't open the installation dialoque as well.
