Thumbs up Vim installation with perl support error: Install not finding EXTERN.h

I did not figure out why I was unable to install from source, the c, c++ compilers are all installed, the header it is complaining about is there.

I ended up installing packages with yum and I have Vim working with all the options I wanted so there is no need to solve this problem. Thanks to those who took a look at it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am trying to install Vim 7.3 with perl (v5.12.4) support running fedora 14.

When running make it complains that it cannot find EXTERN.h but it is located on my system here:

/usr/lib64/perl5/CORE/EXTERN.h

This is the output from make:

[root@hackpad src]# make
creating auto/pathdef.c
gcc -c -I. -Iproto -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DFEAT_GUI_GTK -pthread -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/gdk-pixbuf-2.0 -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=1 -o objects/pathdef.o auto/pathdef.c
gcc -c -I. -Iproto -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DFEAT_GUI_GTK -pthread -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/gdk-pixbuf-2.0 -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=1 -o objects/if_perl.o auto/if_perl.c
