I don't use fluxbox, but I do use dual monitors on redhat 8.0.
I have a matrox G400 card, which is pretty crusty now for 3d games but works excellently for everything else. I know nvidia now supports dual monitors (twinview?). If I do it again, I'll get another matrox card, just because my experience has been excellent over the last three years with dual monitors. The dual monitor setup is so low-level that I can't imagine fluxbox would have a problem with it. With every windowmanager I've tried (including KDE, gnome, and windowmaker) on the dual-monitor box everything worked well. Just make sure to install the manufacturer's linux drivers, it's probably the only way to get dual monitors working. |

ok.. thanks
now here is another Q....if i bought this card: http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/Produ...ductCode=321604 (which is compatiable with redhat: http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/?pag...etails&hid=2649 ) and then 2 KDS LCD monitors, plugged them both into the vid card, booted up... would it work? what would i need to do to get it to be like 1 big monitor? thanks! -sean |

It would work on only one monitor plugging it in and booting it out of the box.
You'd then go to matrox's website, download and follow the installation instructions for thier drivers. Using matrox's "mgapdesk" would then allow you to set up your monitors in whatever configuration you wish- mirrored or "virtual desktop", where you can drag windows between monitors (the desired method). After you've configured dualhead via mgapdesk, save changes, restart X, and you'll have dual monitors. It's very easy. |

The whole thing is called "PowerDesk", mgapdesk is the executable.
What does it matter? You don't have the card yet and you really shouldn't install it. |
