Will Red Hat 8 run on a 4 year old PC?
I know this is a total n00b question but I had SuSe 7.0 on an old PC and some of the upgraded hardware like the cd drives gave me problems, probably because they were too new for the ancient SuSe 7.0 version. My question is, will Red Hat 8.0 work fine on a machine with a 4 year old motherboard and CPU? The hard drive is about 4 gigs and the cd drives are pretty new. Is the machine too new for SuSe 7.0 and too old for Red Hat 8, or will RH8 work on it?

Yes.

I run RH 8.0 (and 7.3) on some 4-5 year old PII-233s (console mode mail servers) and they work fine.
