im stupified, i did a search as root for strings that i know that are in the WINE setup files, it found nothing! (i checked every file on the system - i dunno maybe im using the command wrong, but i did it twice, using the command prompt and using Konqorer - it took a long time!)
I know wine is configured cause its running windows programs for me, when i run the kazaa file manually with the wine command (i use the absolute file location for the binary!) it installs it but when i go to run it, the command prompt just says terminated!! Should i just go and spend the time to configure wine manually for everything? does it take long to the office running when i do it that way? |

do you have "SET TEMP=C:\TEMP" in your autoexec.bat and does the C:\TEMP directory exist?
maybe you should try kazaa-lite since kazaa installs spyware. maybe the spyware cannot start up, kazaa won´t either then... ... just a guess, wine is hard to configure! another idea: why not get a kazaa client for linux ![]()

does kazaa have a linux client? i always used Lime, gtk-gnutella....., they are hopeless.
the c:\temp exists, when i give wine the address of the file it runs it but then bums out........ |

a search for "kazaa" on www.sourceforge.net revealed some. but i never tested any.
beware of the .GET client. i cannot tell for sure, but an .exe file on sourceforge withour source-code is misuse of this site. this might be a trojan or dialer! afaik kazaa uses fasttrack, so any fasttrack client should do. i used limewire/java for quite some time, but now i "ride the donkey" , but this is no fasttrack anymoreis wine more stable than the linux clients? i doubt... although i did not use wine since 1999. have a look at vmware. it does not emulate windows but a complete PC. with this you can install windows into a virtual pc in your linux box , setup your linux box as router and run kazaa in the virtual PC.did you test the other stuff i told you? |

you can get the console kazaa client for linux from http//www.juicylinux.ubu.pl/Download/ you used to be able to get it from the kazaa site as well but it seems to have gone missing from there.
