XDMCP & Telnet Security on SuSE v8.1
I have successfully installed my SuSE Linux v8.1. The
server is on the network, providing NAT (the Linux version of course) on an external and internal network. I can ping w/o any problems. I am having two issues: - Telnet access I can not get logged in via Telnet remotely. The service is enabled via inet.d, and I can connect when I Telnet from a client to port 23, but I am never given a login prompt. What needs to be configured for this? - XDMCP access with Hummingbird Exceed I can not get a login screen when I do a broadcast or direct query to my X windows server on the Linux box. I have changed Xaccess to the '*' and I have removed the configuration in xdm-config that was noted in the READMEs in the same directory. And of course, I both restarted the X server, and then tried to reboot. Please advise on both points. Thanks. |

Figured it out. SuSE did not install telnet server as standard, so once I did that point was solved. On the XDMCP, I had my files setup properly as described by SuSE, but the xdm server had not been started properly. Start xdm and ran fine. Now have gone back and started those services at boot time.
